Their have been suggestions also that their will be a new rule introduced, where you have to undertake around at least 15 driving lessons in order to be able to take your driving exam. Also talks that the DVLA are going to make the exam a lot longer and cover a lot more areas than it usually does.
A reason behind this is because figures have shown in recent years that drivers under the age of 21 are 10 times more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident than those in their late 20's. Also figures show that the majority of deaths to youths from 15 to 20 occur on the road, it is a scary figure but numbers are said to be around 80%.
Above are reasons why the DVLA are in talks of making the current exam a lot more in depth, simply to try and clamp down on the figures and number of accidents which are caused by new, young and inexperienced drivers and make the road a safer place to drive on.
This is why driving instructors are ensuring that they feel comfortable that you are ready for your test, and it is said to be taking people a lot longer to be submitted to your test as they want to make sure you are 'ready for the road' on your own.
The average amount for a driving lesson with a registered instructor is around £23 for an hour which is obviously a large amount. The average amount of hours before a young driver is said to be around 40, so if you do the figures it is going to cost you roughly just under £1000 in lessons before you even take your test.
In order for students today to be able to take the practical side to the exam, they have to complete a workbook of road accomplishments which is provided by the instructor, and then be handed a test ready certificate.
The new driving test, if these rules are to change is said to be roughly around the same guidelines as it is today but a bit more in depth. It will take longer to complete and cover a lot more in detail of what is required. This is to ensure that they feel you are confident to be on the roads alone and confident that you have the ability to be road safe.
Cheap car insurance could soon become a thing of the past for many young drivers. So remember when shopping around for your insurance you are patient and find the best deal for you.
